We have some exciting news! The Hatteras Island Youth Education Fund is offering three (3) $500.00 grants to the CHES or CHSS teachers who receive the most votes during our upcoming 10th Annual Surfin’ Turkey 5k and Puppy Drum Run.
How does it work?
Each certified teacher has been added into our race webpage as a “Rafter Team.” Each person who registers for the race and joins their favorite teacher’s team will count as one vote for that teacher. The top 3 teachers with the most votes, when online registration closes, will receive a $500 grant for their classroom.

What if I already registered?
If you already registered and would like to join your favorite teacher’s team, simply log into runsignup.com and you can edit your registration from there. If you need assistance with this, please email ashleigh@hatterasyouth.com.
What are the grants used for?
Grants from HIYEF can be used for educational needs in circumstances where other public or private funding resources do not exist. Some examples are classroom supplies, materials for projects, contribution towards a field trip or guest speaker, etc.

Share our post about the competition on your social media and with family and friends and encourage them to register for the race and vote for their favorite teacher!
