This project allowed for the students to experience project-based learning with real-world applications for the current health science methods. The students completed the following projects: Fiberglass cast of a bone fracture, drawing blood via classroom portable IV, observation of how infections spread, hands-on experience with tourniquets, and opportunities to learn about vision screening and color blind testing. The Hatteras Island Youth Education Fund grant provided approximately $1700 to fund this grant for CHSS teacher Heather Hensler, RN.
